What is a Tea Infuser?
Filed Under Tea Accessories | 1 Comment
When making tea an infuser does exactly the same job as a tea bag, the difference being that with a tea infuser you add the loose tea yourself and the tea infuser holds the tea whilst letting the flavor of the tea escape into the boiling water. Such tea making devices are usually made of perforated metal and come in a variety of shapes including conical, spherical and cylidrical. Often called a tea egg or tea ball infusers these devices first became popular in the early 19th century.
The main advantage of such a product is that it is great for the enviroment as it cuts down on material use due to the lack of a paper tea bag, secondly the flavor of your tea will not be tarnished however it is advised that you purchase a top quality infuser as the cheaper products tend to change the flavor of your brew.
